The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China has postponed the implementation date of the Administrative Provisions on Cosmetic Labeling, which was scheduled to come into effect next month, to October 1, 2009, given that some cosmetic companies still have a certain number of packaging inventories. Under the provisions, labels on cosmetic products, including toothpaste and shower gel, shall not contain any express or implied medical efficacy.
