Xinjiang’s Alashankou port hits new high in exports

As of the end of December 2008, exports and imports via the Alashankou port in Xinjiang totaled 18,983,166 tons, up 11.4 percent year on year, hitting a new high. During 2008, goods imported from the port mainly included metal ores, oil, steel, chemical products and fertilizers, while exported goods mainly included construction materials, industrial machines, coke, cement and containers.
