Hubei province’s foreign trade amounted to US$2.3 billion in January and February 2009, a year over year decrease of 21.2 percent, according to data from Wuhan Customs. Due to the global financial crisis, the province has recorded decreased foreign trade figures for four months in a row since November 2008. EU remained the province’s largest trading partner during the two months, with foreign trade reaching US$490 million, down 28.4 percent from a year earlier.
