Cultural industry in Hebei province gains widespread attention

A total of 27 cultural industry projects worth RMB 15.876 billion have been signed between companies in the province and those from the Netherlands, Korea and Japan. New celebrity wax figures to join Madame Tussauds Shanghai

Three to four new celebrity wax figures will join the star-studded Madame Tussauds museum in Shanghai this year. In addition, the museum will organize a series of promotions for this year’s newly specified holidays. Madame Tussauds Shanghai is home to wax statues of more than 80 celebrities worldwide, including basketball superstar Yao Ming, Olympic champion Liu Xiang, magnate Bill Gates and former U.S. president Bill Clinton, among others.

Ngong Ping 360 to reopen on New Year's Eve

Hong Kong's Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car system will be reopened to the public at 10am on 31 December, after getting the green light from the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department. Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Frederick Ma will take the first ride this Saturday. The cable-car system has been verified to be safe after passing a series of tests over the last few months. The reliability test gives a result of 99.3 percent. The Hong Kong Tourism Board expects to organise a series of promotions to make Ngong Ping 360 a must-visit attraction for visitors.

The advertisements focused on promoting real and natural beauty, in an effort to offset the unrealistically thin and unhealthy archetypal images associated with modelling. The campaign helped women think about the diversity of beauty and share their perspectives on what real beauty is. The campaign supported the sales of Dove products to rise by 40%. Cathay Pacific boosts services to Toronto and Auckland

Cathay Pacific recently announced further enhancements to its schedule with extra flights to both Toronto in Canada and Auckland in New Zealand. From January 1, 2008, Cathay Pacific's service from Hong Kong to Toronto, currently routed through Anchorage, will become a daily non-stop flight. The flight will initially be operated by an Airbus A340-600. In order to match demand over the winter peak, from December 1, 2007 to March 29, 2008, Cathay Pacific will be operating a twice-daily service to Auckland. For the summer schedule, the airline will operate 10 scheduled flights a week to the New Zealand city, which means three more flights will be added each week compared to the summer schedule in 2007.
