China Huaneng Group's subsidiary acquires 47.815 percent of Shenzhen Energy Group's Manlizhou-based thermal power plant

Shenzhen Energy Group has signed a agreement with Huaneng Hulunbeier Energy Development, a wholly owned subsidiary of China huaneng Group, to sell 47.815 percent stake in a Manlizhou, Inner Mongolia-based thermal power plant to Huaneng Hulunbeier Energy Development at a price of RMB162 million (US$23.7 million). The price also represents a premium of eight percent over the evaluation.

China’s domestic power companies aggressively building wind power plants in Inner Mongolia

Inner Mongolia, with rich wind resource, is attracting many Chinese power companies, including Huaneng New Energy, China Longyuan Electric Power and China Power Investment Corporation, to establish wind power plants in it. China Longyuan Electric Power, as an example, has established wind power plants with total installed power of nearly 450,000kW in the autonomous region.

Anhui sees continuing rapid growth in energy industry

With a group of new large modern mines put into production, Anhui province, China delivered coal output volume of approximately 97.0 million tons and sales volume of approximately 82.7 million tons in the first ten months of this year, up 32.6% and 22.7% from a year earlier, respectively. In addition, the province recorded generated energy of approximately 91.3 billion kwh during the same period, a year-on-year increase of 29.8%.

China Shenhua Energy secures exploration license in Australia

China Shenhua Energy Co has agreed to pay 300 million Australian dollars for a coal exploration license in Australia. Shenhu will explore an area of approximately 190 square km in New South Wales, where there are thought to be shallow coal resources.

China Guodian marches into Hunan’s energy sector

Xiangtou Holdings Group recently signed with China Guodian Corporation a stock transfer agreement on Yiyang Electricity Power Plant. Xiangtou Holdings will transfer a 97.41% stake in Yiyang Electricity Power Plant to Guodian, indicating Guodian’s official entry into Hunan’s energy sector. According to the agreement, Guodian will invest some RMB20 billion in Hunan over the next few years, aggressively participating in the province’s electricity development and energy construction.

Mongolia Energy to acquire a 20% stake in Xinjiang Kaiyue Yuan Minerals

Mongolia Energy Corporation said it will invest RMB50 million for a 20 percent stake in Xinjiang Kaiyue Yuan Minerals Company. Xinjiang Kaiyue Yuan holds exploration rights for a coal mine in Kemusuite area in Xinjiang. Preliminary exploration in the Kemusuite area has indicated over 2 billion tonnes of coal reserve, according to Xinjiang Kaiyue Yuan.

New energy vehicle sales increased nearly 108% in first half

Statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that sales of new energy vehicles for the first half of the year increased 107.95 percent from a year earlier to 366 units in China, 100 of which were sold in June. Driven by the effective policy guidance provided by the Chinese government, technology improvements, high oil prices and consumers' improved environmental awareness, sales of new energy vehicles in the country is expected to see strong growth, according to insiders. 
 

Energy industry records annual growth rate of 7.1% in production volume in China

According to Zhang Guobao, head of the China National Energy Administration, China has become the second largest energy producer in the world, recording an annual growth rate of 7.1% in energy production volume since 2000. The production volume of energy resources in 2007 achieved 1.8 times of that in 2000. In addition, the production volume of fossil energy resources in China occupied 15.87% of that in the world, up 5.39 percentage points from 2000.

China Shenhua obtains prospecting right for an Australian mine

China Shenhua Energy Company Limited confirmed on 15 August that the company has acquired the 5-year prospecting right for a coal mine in New South Wales, Australia for AUD 300 million. Occupying an area of 190 square kilometers, the mine is a shallow cola mine.
