Yo-Yo Ma invited to perform in Hong Kong

World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and more than twenty musicians from the Silk Road Project yesterday visited Hong Kong Student Aid Society Primary School located in Tin Shui Wai, organizing a music and culture exchange activity for over 600 primary students. It is said that Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble are taking a tour of China’s major cities including Shanghai and Hong Kong, among others. The performance in Hong Kong yesterday is sponsored by American Express Foundation.

Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra has provoked negative comments from the public recently due to the contract renewal dispute. Some commenters pointed out that Edo de Waart, the Art Director and Chief Conductor holds too much power. In addition, Edo de Waart ushered in a new sponsor, Swire Group Charitable Trust, for Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006.

“Sunny Girls” band to stage performance at Cityplaza

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, Cityplaza has invited the "Sunny Girls" band from the Central University for Nationalities of China to stage a musical performance in February. In addition, the shopping mall will present Chinese traditional decorations including a 9-metre high kiosk, a water-lily pool and bridges.
