Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Huizu Autonomous Region, recorded total retail sales of consumer goods of RMB1.5 billion (approx. US$219 million) in January 2009, a year over year growth of 15.1 percent. The city recorded 84,400 visitor arrivals during the Spring Festival, up 20 percent from a year prior. In addition, revenues from the tourism sector reached RMB50 million (approx. US$7.3 million), a year over year growth of 34 percent.
