China successfully develops MEMS acceleration sensor-based 3-component seismograph

After more than one year of cooperation, the Nanjing Institute of Geophysical Prospecting of the Exploration & Production Research Institute, Sinopec Corp., and the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently succeeded in developing a 3-component seismograph based on a China-made MEMS acceleration sensor. Indoor tests show that the seismograph performs as expected. The Nanjing Institute of Geophysical Prospecting plans to further improve the device with field tests.

China’s “man-made sun” device sets new high in terms of plasma electron temperature

Journalists were recently granted access to the Chengdu -based Southwestern Institute of Physics-Nuclear Power Industry. China’s HL-2A tokamak recorded internal plasma electron temperature of 55 million degrees Celsius in a heating experiment, setting a new high in terms of plasma electron temperature for China’s "man-made sun" device.
