Li Ning gains exclusive rights to Lotto brand in China

Chinese sportswear maker Li-Ning Company recently announced that the company has signed an agency agreement with Italian sports brand Lotto Sports and gained a 20-year exclusive concession in China for no less than RMB930 million (approx US$136 million). Under the terms of the agreement, Li Ning has the exclusive rights in development, manufacturing, marketing, promotion, distribution and sale, along with the right to use the trademark of Lotto in China. Starting from January 1, 2009, Li Ning will pay license fee to Lotto at a certain percentage of the actual sales of the licensed products.
 

Nike has not yet renewed ad contract with Liu Xiang

Liu Xiang, a famous Chinese hurdler and sports star, has successfully served as spokesperson for such well-known brands as Nike, Coca-Cola and Visa. Sources said that almost all major ad sponsors have renewed their contracts with Liu, though he failed to defend his 110m hurdles title in Beijing. However, it is said that Nike has not yet considered Liu part of its advertising plan for 2009.

Nike plans to open an outlet at Hangzhou MIXC

Shandong Port records 13.9% growth in textile and apparel exports during first 11 months

According to statistics from Qingdao Customs, Shandong Port, China posted textile and apparel exports of US$14.4 billion for the first 11 months of this year, up 13.9 per cent from the same period last year. Textile and apparel exports were US$1.3 billion in November, a year-on-year growth of 12 per cent. This growth was mainly contributable to the Chinese government’s new policy to increase the export tax rebate rate for some textile and apparel products starting from November 1, 2008.
